candy soul

i can't believe it's been two months. so sorry.
that just shows how truly busy the end of the year can get.

dress: Miss Unkon
belt: Yves Saint Laurent (paris)
shoes: Moschino (singapore)

i had fun editing these photos. i kind of feel like life would be more romantic if we saw everything in pink and blue. for those of you who use photo shop, this edit is using some of nirimi's actions from the colour shop (i used candy). and for those of you who are unfamiliar with nirimi's work, make yourself familiar. she's beautiful. speaking of great photographers, i just recently did a little shoot with rachel claire that i can't wait to see. she really is so sweet and her work is stunning. now on to the topic of the clothing. this dress is my sisters (thanks mad) that i have not actually worn anywhere. but it makes for a cute outfit and some great photos. and these shoes i scored on sale in singapore. i love them. and realised i have no close up of them, but can you see the mini gold love heart cut outs all over them. it's darn cute. so in other news, i'm working on a new blog. and in case you couldn't tell from my frequent prolonged absences, i'm not the greatest at keeping this baby updated. however my master plan for next year is to launch this new blog that is a super hybrid of some very important things in my life. and considering i will no longer be studying, i will have time. so watch this space for a cool new exciting music and fashion and food and everything cool (as cool as i can be) update.

gymy choo

these shoes maddy scored on sale in singapore for her dance, and well, they're pretty fantastic. also loving the colour of these shorts and how they kind of look like gym pants.

t.shirt: American Apparel
(courtesy of dad's wardrobe)
shorts: Rummage
shoes: Jimmy Choo
glasses: Colab
necklace: Poppy Lissiman

yesterday bella and i visited the city. we went to that cool new bit called brookfield place. it's pretty cool and new. some awesome cafes/bars/restaurants. and i definitely didn't feel like i was in perth anymore. so well done perth city. well done. you're crawling out of your shell. while in the city we went to rummage in northbridge. and to be honest after walking for about 10 minutes in 27 degress and boots i was actually, kind of, over heating. i know. it's pathetic, but i really need to start conditioning myself for this warmer weather. don't let my fake tan fool you. the sun and i aren't exactly pals. anyway. this is probably the thousandth time i've mentioned the fairness of my skin on the this blog. it's not like i have an issue with it or anything... by the way. how cool is my dad that i can wear his clothes. i think i'm going to do a feature on my dad soon. just coz he definitely dresses like a 52 year old man should. in fact. he dresses kind of like a 22 year old 'man' should. next post: what i'm wearing to my gig at the ellington tonight. should be a little fancy ;)

dressed to kill

bought this shirt in singapore and came home to soon realise that i was, in fact, on the trend money with givenchy's line of t.shirts and jumpers displaying various vicious animal heads.

jacket: Topshop
t.shirt: some store on Haji Lane
shorts: Vintage
shoes: Converse
bag: Pigeonhole

i will assume given you're on this site that you do enjoy the occasional fashion blog, and if you follow anyone like the blonde salad, jak and jil, tuula etc, you will notice quite a presence of givenchy's rather confrontingly (not a real word) frightening prints, or kenzo's colourful african take on the wild animal. or perhaps you've seen kanye or liv displaying their givenchy roar. well, i'm a fan of the trend. i sort of did it by accident, in which case i may at some stage actually delve a little deeper and get myself a shirt of the kind. but the truth is, until i start earning proper money i won't be buying any proper clothing, and certainly not of the givenchy persuasion. but one day. yes. one day. i'm also attempting a trend that probably a year or so ago i would have confessed was a sin. double denim. but i actually sort of love it. i dono. maybe i didn't nail it this time around, but i certainly tried. and i really need some new shoes. i mean how many times will i wear my converses. actually. probably forever. but i at least need another option. you see i was going shopping this day, and i am always stumped when it comes to footwear for shopping. it's like you want to look good, but you also want to walk at a good enough pace and maintain balance. you know? so. first step. money. second step. shoes. i'd say life tends to run in somewhat of a similar order. perhaps add food and we have satisfaction.

marc jacobs. i do love you

recently bought this cool watch that everyone thinks is cool. and expensive. but it's not. how sneaky when you buy something cheap and get many many complimentos.

top: Supre
skirt: Marc by Marc Jacobs (can't find online)
(something similar in style here and here maybe even here)
boots: Topshop (similar ones here and here)
watch: Retro Safari

when i went to supre to get some stuff for a shoot i was doing, found this shirt for $2, and i mean as if i wouldn't buy it. it's 2 dollars. but also surprisingly cheap was this watch that i scored for $20. the band is a bit lame as it's just a little hole punched with a stud coming out to attatch itself to. not so sure i explained that right. but the point is i think i'll need an actual buckle type strap. on the hunt for a cool summer link watch something white maybe. i think i've got my heart set on this guy here. just why does everything have to cost money! maybe christmas time someone would be so kind as to purchase me such a thing. family. friends. anyone who's reading this ;) so speaking of marc jacobs, this skirt my sister bought in singapore. i love it. but it is kind of annoyingly a little too big. so i just rolled it at the top instead of using a belt. makes it a bit shorter and tighter. also i'll show ya'll the photos from the shoot i did with my great friend lance and megan and her other friend mark. the theme was skater girl glam in the summer time. i guess mark was like her attractive accessory, without being too degrading to the male race. it was fun and i love doing styling and makeup. pretty much just having control.
to red lipstick and skateboards.

like a true hippie.

in fremantle. wearing mainly vintage. and a jacket that may as well be vintage by now.

jacket: Wayne Cooper (from years ago!)
shorts: Vintage and probably need new ones now
shoes: Zomp (awesome sandals just come in)
belt: Tribu (a little old now)
glasses: Colab

so i'm loving the mix of the plaid and the paisley. the colours actually work together great, but regardless, two patterns are always better than one. right. so the other day i ventured over to fremantle with my partener in food and photo crime (on certain occasions) dave. we ate lunch at the raw kitchen, and oh ma godd. holy smokers. i don't even know how to tell you how my mind is blown by that place. no gluten. no diary. no meat. and nothing is cooked. we ate pizza and nachos. it's so delish and the salads are full of colourful juicy flavour. so this place is highly recommended, and probably a vegan dream. we carried on to moore & moore. which i'm sure any fremantle cafe goers will know and love. but mainly due to it's attachment to an art gallery and it's quirky interior. it's the kind of cafe that makes you feel cool. like you can pretend you're a new yorker. just minus a few billion people. the weather was really on and off with the sun. and regardless of my melanin deficiency, i am actually looking forward to those full days of sun when you spend the entire day doing, well, nothing.
to summer's approach.

isabel marant willow

so sneakers. they're strangely in fashion, and i keep having this urge to buy the isabel marant inspired wedged sneakers but never follow through. so here's me weaning in the trend.

tshirt: Peter Alexander (mm it's a pyjama top)
dress: Cameo
belt: Alannah Hill
shoes: Nike (from years ago)

thought I'd dress down this dress by putting a tshirt under it. kind of makes the old sneakers a little less random. got the dress on sale from zara bryson which makes me love it that much more. on the link above you should see it has this bizarre exposed tie thing which i chose to cover with a belt. sort of like it better this way. plus i had major issues with actually tying the thing in any sort of way that actually looked normal. i also got my hair cut again. my intention was to get it a little lighter, then a trim. yeah. officially never getting my hair cut at the hairdressers again. i'll leave it to mamma. she took about 2 inches off, which is a lot when you're trying to grow it. i don't know. sometimes i love it, sometimes i hate it. no. actually that's a lie. i never haaate it, but certainly long for my old locks. that's enough about hair. back on to the shoe topic. so these sneakers here are whats circling the fashion world at the mo. well they're probably beginning to circle out but i have a major love hate relationship with them. there's something elephant like about them. but somehow cool. like that great blend of dressy and casual. some cheaper versions like this and this also appeal to me. i just don't know. what do you think?
perhaps our next meeting will be in 2.5 inch comfort.

sequins and stripes

so hello.
i'm wearing a sequin covered jacket. in fact it's probably more of a cardigan, in which case i think gives it credibility to be worn during the day time, right?

top: Dolce & Gabbana
skirt: Topshop (i think this is it here)
boots: The label has worn off, but they're from paris so they're cool
necklace: Poppy Lissiman

i actually bought this for a beautiful friend's 18th birthday, the theme was sequins. but i mean, really, how cool is it. this was from that vintage store i told you about last post. it was too expensive, but its shine sucked me in and i couldn't resist. now, my apologies if my speech turns melancholy, or suddenly disinterested. i'm watching the machine gun preacher. probably not the best combination of multi tasking. anyway, this movie totally shows the heart of god and i love it.
aaaaanyway. this top was another sweet sale item i got in singapore. i literally made a 1000 dollar saving. what the heck. the skirt i linked you to is the wrong colour i think, but the same skirt. and once again i'm wearing that coin necklace. i literally could wear it with everything. thank you poppy lissiman. my hair is getting longer you may have noticed. i'm actually glad about it. the last couple of weeks i've been missing my long hair. at current length however i'm diggin it. what do you think?
perhaps that can be a rhetorical question..

see by chloe

bonjour. i'm wearing stripes.
what is this attachment we hold connecting the french with stripes? it's so, cool.

jumper: See by Chloe (pretty much sold out)
jeans: from Miss Brown Vintage
(i like this place. it doesnt smell too much...)
shoes: Converse
bag: Lolla Palooza

as just mentioned, the jeans are from this cute vintage store called miss brown vintage, in the city. it was probably one of the best vintage experiences i've had in perth, and that is unfortunately not based on prices, but literally the experience. the workers were deeply interested in what i was trying on, and the store is large with a really great selection of things. they get a lot of clothing imported, and it's layed out so clearly. you don't feel like you can't breath from previously existing mothball-in-closet situations either. so that's brilliant. also this is a groovy see by chloe number that my mum scored in paris and that i get ample wear out of. i couldn't find a site that it wasn't sold out on though, my apologies. these photos were taken in fremantle when i tagged along to my sisters lunch date with her friends. no really. i did. and although i'm not sixteen, somehow the braces and the converses allowed me to pass for it. oh golly. looking forward to the day when i feel my age again, and i will be smiling all over this blog. none of this awkward hiding metal in my mouth photos. there will be real live smiling going on.
until that day, we will have to endure.
love to you all.
